“DIARY OF A WINNER”

BABE RUTH

THE 1914 "MIRACLE" BRAVES

April 19, 1914 ... No game scheduled ... The Orioles beat the Braves in an exhibition game at Dunn Field by a 3 to 2 score.  The Orioles displayed great fielding and good hitting before a large crowd.  Youngster, Babe Ruth, pitched three innings for Baltimore.

Beck started for the Braves and gave way to Bill James, who was a bit wild in the three innings he pitched.  Butch Schmidt, who played on the Orioles last season, was a fan favorite.  Les Mann broke into the run column with a home run.
