“DIARY OF A WINNER”

BACK-TO-BACK WORLD SERIES CHAMPS

May 14, 1916 ... No game scheduled

May 15-17, 1916 ... The Red Sox and White Sox were unable to play at Fenway Park with rain spoiling the playing field.  Although the rain stopped, there was no sunshine to dry the field.  Joe Wood is in New York and working hard to get back into the majors and have some owner approach Joe Lannin with a deal to get his services.

Downtown fans will now be able to learn whether a game will be played or not by looking at the flags on top of Shuman Company Building at Washington and Summer Streets.  A white flag will signify that a game is going to be played, while a red flag will mean that the game has been called off.
