“DIARY OF A WINNER”

ERNIE KOOB

BACK-TO-BACK WORLD SERIES CHAMPS
Red Sox defeated again by the Browns

August 31, 1916 ... The Browns winded up the series by beating the Red Sox 2 to 1, and winning the series three games to four.  Ernie Koob and Babe Ruth took the mound for their teams and fought an even battle, each allowing seven hits, but the St. Louis left hander was tighter in the pinches.  The Browns got their first run on an error by Mike McNally, who is filling in for Jack Barry.
