BOSTON BRAVES ...
SPAHN & SAIN and PRAY FOR RAIN ...

May 16, 1948 ... Today's game in Brooklyn was called in the last of the second inning.  Following a 35 minute wait after a rain storm started, the game was postponed.

Ralph Branca started for the Dodgers and pitched two perfect innings. Johnny Sain opened the game by setting the Dodgers down in order.

In the second Arky Vaughn opened with a triple off the screen in right field.  There were two balls and one strike on Pee Wee Reese when the rain started.
