Both Bob Garbark and his brother Mike played major-league ball, both wrapping up
their big-league careers in 1945 when Mike was with the Yankees and Bob was with
the Red Sox. Bob was a late report to spring training with the Red Sox (he’d had
to complete his duties at the college and then be reinstated from the retired
list.) His first game was April 26th, and probably the game which pleased him
the most was the June 7th game against the Athletics, when his single in the
bottom of the 10th inning for the Sox ...
