ED SMITH   QB

Ed Smith was born in New York City on June 17, 1913, attended George Washington High School and went to New York University.

He was drafted by the Boston Redskins in the third round of the 1936 NFL Draft. For the Redskins, as quarterback, he completed 11 passes in 40 attempts for one touchdown and ran for 39 yards in seven carries. In the 1936 NFL Championship game against the Packers, he completed one pass in five attempts.

The next season, he played for the Green Bay Packers, but a prior ligament injury returned and he left professional sports. He later played and coached semi-pro football in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1941. 

After football Ed worked for Otis Elevator in the post-war era and passed away on January 29, 1998, at age 84.
