EDDIE BRESSOUD   SS

Eddie Bressoud signed with the New York Giants in 1950. He spent the next few years in the minors and also served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War, eventually cracking the big leagues in 1956 with the Giants, moving with them to San Francisco.

He was the first selection of the Houston Colt .45s in the 1961 expansion draft, but was then traded to the Red Sox. He would spend four years in Boston, hitting 57 home runs and producing a batting average of .270 and was named to the American League All-Star team in 1964.

He was traded two more times in his career, joining the Mets in 1966 and the Cardinals in 1967 where he faced the Red Sox in two of the World Series games as a defensive replacement, in his final games.

Eddie Bressoud was both an All-Star and a World Series champion and passed away due to cerebellar ataxia, at age 91, on July 13, 2023, in Walnut Grove, CA ...
