JOHN CHARLES   DB

John Charles was born on May 9, 1944 in Newark, NJ, and attended Linden High School. He then went on to play football at Purdue University where he was an All-American in 1966 and led his team as the MVP in the Rose Bowl. He followed that up by playing in the 1967 Senior Bowl, Chicago College All Star Game and the Coaches All-American Game.

He was selected in the 1st round of the 1967 NFL Draft by the Boston Patriots and played corner back and safety from 1967 thru 1969.

In 1970 he was sent to the Minnesota Vikings as compensation for the Patriots signing Joe Kapp. From 1971 thru 1974 played with the Houston Oilers.

After his football career, he went into business for 33 years, and was inducted into the Purdue Hall of Fame in 2015.

On June 16, 2019, John Charles passed away at age 75, in Houston, Texas.
