FOOTBALL AT FENWAY
Boston University wilts 21-0

November 9, 1940 ... Boston College encountered its first real opponent in a month at Fenway Park and left the gridiron well satisfied with a 21-0 victory over an inspired Boston University Terrier team that fought like bulldogs.  B.U. battled all the way and used an unorthodox defense that shackled the Eagles a good many times.  The outcome of the game however was never in question a B.C. more than held their  stubborn opponents in check and it was only a matter of time until they broke it open

A 37 yard scamper by Walt Dubzinski on a pass interception on B.U.'s Walt Williams, gave the Eagles their first touchdown in the second period.  A flurry of passes in a 59 yard, seven play drive by Mickey Connolly set up the second touchdown in that same period, with Mike Holovak doing the blast for the actual score.  In the final period with Connolly throwing and Bobby Jauron doing the ground work, the Eagles marched for 45 yards for a score with Connolly passing to Don Currivan.

The Terriers threatened only once at the start of the second half.  A snappy passing attack by Ralph Salvatti brought them from the Eagle 37-yard line down to the ten where George Kerr snuffed out the drive with a pass interception.  B.C. put up more than 400 yards in total offense, outpassed them by over 100 yards and led them in first downs, 18-6.  It was the crashing play of the B.U. ends that showed the worst blocking of the Eagles line this season and allowed the Terriers to take the ball back from B.C. no less than nine times. The 21-0 final score corrected all the mistakes and kept the Eagles undefeated.
