“DIARY OF A WINNER”

CONNIE MACK

FENWAY'S FIRST TEAM

April 14, 1912 ... No game scheduled ... Manager Jake Stahl of the Red Sox thinks pretty well of his team after the victories in New York. He brought his players to Philadelphia last night and is anxious to make good against the world champion Athletics, who took both games from Washington as a starter. Stahl said tonight that considering the bad weather during spring training, he was more than pleased with the way his team worked in the opening series of the championship race.

The Sox to a man are reported to be in first-class condition. Stahl said the whole team was going fine and he if he is fortunate enough to stay clear of accidents he will be well satisfied,. It was a chilly drizzly day in Philadelphia, making the weather unusually uncomfortable. The players stayed close to the hotel and did not wander far. Better weather is expected tomorrow.
