“DIARY OF A WINNER”

BUTCH SCHMIDT

THE 1914 "MIRACLE" BRAVES

June 21, 1914 ... No game scheduled ... Of the 15 games played since the Braves returned home from a rather disastrous road trip, they have won 11; two of four from Cincinnati, four straight from Pittsburgh, three out of four from Chicago and two out of three from St. Louis.  The Braves did their best of the year during this stretch, with a team batting average of .293, with 65 base hits and 37 runs in 222 at bats.

Manager Stallings said he did not know whether Butch Schmidt would be able to play tomorrow.  Schmidt strained his right foot in the game Friday and Stallings said he would not take the chance of working him before he is completely well.
