“DIARY OF A WINNER”

WORLD CHAMPS AGAIN

September 28, 1915
...
No game scheduled ... Walter Johnson beat the Tigers 3 to 0, striking out 10 men in the first five innings, pushing the Tigers to 4 1/2 games behind the Red Sox, and allowing Boston to need just one more win or Tiger loss to clinch the pennant.

Applications for World Series tickets are flowing into Fenway Park and Sec Edward Riley and his assistants are working overtime. It was announced yesterday that 10,00 left field or third base seats would be reserved.  The unreserved seats will sell for $1 each on the day of the game.

The Red Sox worked out at Braves Field and will work out there again tomorrow morning.  The new turf is much livelier than American League fields, according to the players. They had an intrasquad game with the Cady team beating the Thomas team 2 to 1.  Del Gainor hit an inside-the-park home run, the first home run hit at Braves Field.  Jack Barry, who has been out for a while, watched in street clothes.  He hopes to play at least one game in Washington.
