“DIARY OF A WINNER”

THE LAST ONE FOR 86 YEARS
The Red Sox work out at Comiskey Park

September 3, 1918 ...  No game scheduled ... The Red Sox worked out at Comiskey Park today in preparation for the start of the World Series tomorrow.  Either Joe Bush or Babe Ruth will pitch for the Red Sox.

Dave Shean split the middle finger of his right hand during practice and has his hand in a splint.  Harry Hooper is suffering from hay fever, and Stuffy McInnis is limping around as the result of a twisted ankle from chasing down a pop fly against the Yankees.

The team arrived in Chicago at 4PM and hustle out to the ballpark for the workout, just after the Cubs had completed theirs. Manager Barrow brought the entire club along for the trip.  Freddy Thomas is back with the team and was running around scooping up ground balls.  He met the team at the hotel wearing his seaman's uniform and the boys were glad to see him.
