“DIARY OF A WINNER”

THE CURSE OF THE BAMBINO, PART 2 ...
A POWERFUL RED SOX TEAM FAILS
IN THE WORLD SERIES ...

May 5, 1946 ... A continuous downpour forced the postponement of a scheduled doubleheader against the St. Louis Browns today.  The Yankees won their fifth straight, so the Sox lead over New York was cut to 1 1/2 games.  The games will be made up tomorrow, which is a scheduled off day.

The rest is welcomed to Johnny Pesky, who is nursing a strained groin and Ted Williams who is still battling a cold.  The Sox waited until 12:15 to call off the game and opened 10 windows to refund the money the few hundred walk-up fans had paid to buy today's tickets.
