A POWERFUL RED SOX TEAM FAILS
IN THE WORLD SERIES ...

September 23, 1946 ... No game scheduled ... The Toronto Maple Leafs of the International League reached a working agreement with the Red Sox today.  This agreement gives the Red Sox the right to purchase any two players from Toronto at the end of each season for $10,000 each.  The Leafs had a similar agreement with the Philadelphia Athletics.

Beginning tomorrow, the Red Sox will be showered with tributes at Fenway Park.  Tomorrow is "Eddie Pellagrini Day" to honor the popular Roxbury Memorial star.  Saturday will be "Johnny Pesky Day" when the city of Lynn will pay tribute John and his wife, Ruth.   In between , the Red Sox and Yankees will play an exhibition game in Douglas, MA.  On Friday, the local Shriners will honor the Red Sox, and it will also be "Ladies Day".  On Sunday, it will be "Camel Hair Coat Day".
