THE CURSE OF THE BAMBINO, PART 2 ... September 30, 1946 ... Tiger manager, Steve O'Neil, will pilot the American League All Stars tomorrow at Fenway Park. He will be given free reign to assemble the best lineup to beat the Red Sox. Cronin wants it to be a playoff atmosphere and will send out his starters to beat the All Stars. Lou Boudreau will not make the series due to some family commitments, but many players who wanted to play, had to be turned away. WHDH announced that it will broadcast all home games of the Red Sox and Braves next year. Bob Feller's major league All Stars lost to the Negro League Stars, 3 to 1 at Forbes Field in Pittsburgh. Satchel Paige worked the first three innings, striking out for and giving up one hit. Feller struck out three and allowed two hits. |
