June 18, 1948 ... The Red Sox were in Detroit to play the Tigers on a beautiful sunny afternoon and encountered a steady downpour before the night's scheduled game. 30,000 fans sat in the stands until 10PM when the game was called.  It would have been only the second night game ever played in Detroit.
