BOSTON RED SOX ...
THE CURSE OF THE BAMBINO, PART 3
A
SUBWAY SERIES DISAPPEARS ...

September 7, 1948 ... No game scheduled ... On the eve of a series with the second place, Yankees, the only worry manager Joe McCarthy seemed to have was about the status ob Bobby Doerr.  He still has not healed from his thigh injury as expected to sit pout at least one more game.  Doerr went through a long batting practice and doubted he could play in the field.

The Yankees have 21 of their last 25 games, while the Red Sox have won 22 of 26 games.
