“DIARY OF A WINNER”

DICK WILLIAMS

THE CURSE OF THE BAMBINO, PART 6 ...
"THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM"

May 18, 1967 ... No game scheduled ... there was no action at the ball park with everybody having the day off.

Tony Conigliaro was put on the military deferred list and Russ Gibson was recalled from Pittsfield.  Conig is doing two weeks of military service at Camp Drum in New York.

At the Bosox luncheon, Dick Williams praised all his ball players saying that they have shed their "country club" reputation.  Only players who are in shape and have a desire to play, will be in the lineup.  He said that there are several hard throwing pitchers in the minors that may help the pitching problems.
