“DIARY OF A WINNER”

COMISKEY PARK

THE CURSE OF THE BAMBINO, PART 6 ...
"THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM"

June 7, 1967 ... Dick Williams was tossed out of the game by first base umpire, Bill Valentine midway through the second inning for protesting his safe call on Ron Hansen after a doubleplay attempt.

Moments later everyone at Comiskey Park was ejected by Mother Nature as rain drenched the field.  Everyone waited two hours with the Red Sox trailing, 2-0.

The team was without Tony Conigliaro and Rico Petrocelli.  Conigliaro returned to Lynn for an Army Reserve meeting and Rico became the proud father of twins the night before.
