DANIEL BARD |
BOSTON STRONG -
THE ROAD TO REDEMPTION
Daniel Bard still has little control
August 26, 2013 ...
No game scheduled.
Daniel Bard pitched an inning for the rookie-level Gulf Coast League Red Sox in Fort Myers, Fla. Bard came out of the bullpen to start the fourth inning and walked the first batter he faced before allowing a single. With one out, an error loaded the bases. Bard then threw a pitch that got past
catcher Alixon Suarez, but the runner was thrown out trying to score. A strikeout ended the inning. Alfredo Aceves, who is on the disabled list with Triple A Pawtucket, also pitched an inning in the game. He walked a batter with one out before getting a double play.
Jon Lester and a few of his Red Sox teammates used their off night to raise money for the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation. The event at the House of Blues included a "Hollywood Squares"-style game show featuring Lester and his wife, Farrah, as contestants. The guest list included antiwar
activist Carlos Arredondo, Marathon bombing survivor Jeff Bauman, comedian Lenny Clarke, Olympic gold-medal gymnast Aly Raisman, Bruins forward Shawn Thornton, and Lester's fellow Sox pitchers Clay Buchholz, Ryan Dempster, and John Lackey. |
