In 1940 Alex Mustaikis made the major leagues. When the time the season began, he was in Scranton and pitching well. In July, the Red Sox sent two pitchers, Mickey Harris and Bill Butland, down to Scranton and called up Alex. He arrived and threw batting practice amd then was given a start in the second game of a July 7th doubleheader in Washington.
