BILL SHEPHERD   B

Bill Shepherd was born in Clearfield, Pennsylvania on December 4, 1911 and attended Clearfield High School. He played college football as a running back and punter for Western Maryland College. In 1934 he led the nation scoring 133 points and was a starter in the 1934 College All Star Game, also playing in the East-West Shrine game.

Bill played pro football for the Boston Redskins in 1935, running for 285 yards in seven games. He got traded to the Detroit Lions, who he played with until 1940. He was a four time All-NFL selection in his six years playing professional football.

Bill Shepherd passed away after suffering a stroke on March 8, 1967, at age 55, in Detroit.
