JOE ZENO   G

Joe Zeno was born on June 14, 1919 in Boston and attended Waltham High School in Waltham, MA, where he played football. After graduation he played for Holy Cross in Worcester, MA.

He was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the 5th round of the 1942 NFL Draft and played both offensive and defensive guard for them in 1942 thru 1944, playing in the 1942 Pro Bowl. He helped the Redskins win the 1942 NFL Championship against the Chicago Bears.

In 1945 he left football to serve in the Army during, World War II, for 1 1/2 years. Upon his return to civilian life, he played for the Boston Yanks in 1946 and 1947.

After he retired from pro football, he moved to California and coached at Arcadia High School for one year, before becoming the head coach at Santa Paula High School for 15 years, retiring in 1974.

Joe Zeno passed away from complications associated with Parkinson's disease, on January 8, 1992 at age 72, in Glendale, CA.
