MIKE SEBASTIAN   B

Mike Sebastian was born in Luxor, Pennsylvania on June 7, 1910 and attended Sharon High School where he played football and ran track. In 1928 he scored ten touchdowns, contributing 63 points in one game.

He went on to play college football as a fullback and ran track at the University of Pittsburgh and was an All-American in 1932 and 1933. In 1934 he played in the College All Star Game and the East-West Shrine Game.

After college Mike played pro football for the Chicago Cardinals and the the Cincinnati "Football" Reds in 1934. In 1935 he played in one game for the Boston Redskins and then with the Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh "Football" Pirates. In 1936 he moved on to the Passaic Red Devils of the American Association and then the Cleveland Rams. In 1937 it was the Rochester Tigers and as a player/coach for the St. Louis Gunners in the American Football League.

Mike retired from playing in 1938 and went back to school to earn a master's degree. He was appointed assistant coach at  Rochester Area High School in 1946, staying for three years. In 1951, Ambridge High School hired him as their coach and he stayed there through 1961.

Mike Sebastian passed away on June 18, 1989, at age 79 as a result of hepatitis, in Hemet, California. He was elected to the Mercer County (PA) Hall of Fame in 2002 and the Beaver County (PA) Hall of Fame in 2007.
