Pete Fox was sold to the Boston Red Sox in December, 1940. Fox had a front-row seat as his teammate, Ted Williams, hit .406. He also became a footnote in Joe DiMaggio’s 56-game hitting streak. In game 16 of the streak, Fox lost DiMaggio’s fly ball in the sun, and Joe D was credited with his only hit of the day. Fox played in 73 games for the Red Sox, hitting a very respectable .302.  ...
