SWEDE OLSSON   G

Carl "Swede" Olsson was born in Akron, Ohio on August 18, 1909. He graduated from Central High School in Akron and went on to play football at college at Mercer College.

He went on to play pro football as a guard with the Boston Redskins from 1934 to 1936 and moved with the team to Washington, playing with them until 1938. In 1938 he made first team All-Pro.

Swede Olsson coached at Manchester High School for 28 years, retiring in 1970 and becoming athletic director. He was elected to the Summit County Sports Hall of Fame in 1958 and passed away on July 2, 1972, at age 62, in Barberton, Ohio.
