EDDIE STANKY |
BOSTON BRAVES
...
SPAHN & SAIN and PRAY FOR RAIN ...
May 11, 1948 ... About
thirty minutes after the gates opened, the game with the Cardinals
was postponed. It had rained most of the night, and was
threatening most of the day. The Braves therefore made early
arrangements to catch the train for Chicago. The club caught a
midnight sleeper.
Eddie Stanky flew to Chicago earlier with his wife to visit her
father, Milt Stock, one of the Cubs' coaches. Stanky is doing much
better and will probably play when the Braves go to Brooklyn. |
