Spahn and Sain have won six of the last eight games played by the Braves.  Over the next two days they will both pitch again, with Sain going on only two days of rest. They will face the second place Pirates, who beat the Giants, 10-6, to move 4 1/2 games behind the Tribe.

The Braves have three starters batting over .300 ... Al Dark (.329 BA), Tommy Holmes (.325 BA) and Jeff Heath (.318 BA).  Dark is in third place in the National League batting race.
