When the 1948 season began, Al Lyons made only one appearance in the early going,
pitching two-thirds of an inning and allowing three hits in a 16–9
home loss to the Giants. Three weeks later, the Braves assigned him
to their Milwaukee farm team in the American Association, where he was 3-2 in
eleven games.
