B.C. tramples V.M.I. behind
Doc Mauro and Tom Magnarelli

The Eagles offense went off like a time bomb at Fenway Park with some great running buy Bernie Telisewski, and Tom Magnarelli, mainly because the Virginia line was overwhelmed by the massive B.C. offensive forwards. The only time the Eagle goal was threatened was
when VMI's Jim Tiernan intercepted a pass and came within a missed block of running the length of the field instead of the 37 yards he was credited for. The B.C. offense racked up 26 points in the first 16 minutes of the game.
In the first quarter, quarterback Doc Mauro hit Eddie DeSilva for 27 yards before Dick Gagliardi notched the score. In the same period Jimmy Kane hit Magnarelli for 19 and Frank Furey for 15 before Twink Tellsweski took it in to make it 14-0. Same first
period, Kane recovered a V.M.I. fumble at their 24 yard line setting up Emmy Petrarca for another touchdown. In period number two, tackle Bob Poskus made the first of his two fumble recoveries at the V.M.I. 37-yard line. In two plays Tellsweski swept for 36 yards before bulling it
over for the last yard. Later in the period, Jack McDonnell intercepted and ran the ball to midfield. Magnarelli and Dave Keelan ran the ball between the tackles, with Doc Mauro picking up the last three yards to the end zone. Third quarter and Magnarelli scores on a 25
yard sweep. Harold Hanewich was B.C.'s fourth quarterback of the day took a quarterback sneak in from two yards for the Eagles' final score. B.C. ran well to the outside and no team has swept through its first three games since 1942.
