FENWAY'S FIRST TEAM
August 18, 1912
...
No game scheduled ... Albion Carlstrom, the clever shortstop
all the Lawrence team in the New England league has been sold to the
Boston Red Sox. Negotiations were completed by manager Patsy Donovan, but
he will remain with Lawrence through the end of the season. Carlstrom was
taken by the Red Sox toward the end of last season but later was sold back
to Lawrence team. He came here in 1910 from Elizabeth, New Jersey and is
regarded as one of the fastest men playing his position in the New England
League. His batting average is .280 in 95 games with 109 hits including 25
doubles, 6 triples and 4 home runs. He leads the team in runs scored was
73. Thanks to his victory over St. Louis on Wednesday, Joe Wood now has
the leadership of American League pitchers. One week ago he was tied with Eddie
Plank of the Athletics for the lead and although Plank also won his last game,
the White Sox being in Saturday and so he slips down to second place. Wood is
25-4 with four no decisions. |
