“DIARY OF A WINNER”

VEAN GREGG

WORLD CHAMPS AGAIN
Vean Gregg pitches a strong game
and beats the Browns

August 23, 1915 ... Vean Gregg pitched a complete game for the first time this season and handily beat the Browns, shutting them out 7 to 0.  Gregg gave his teammates confidence and as it was obvious that the Browns were not going to hit him easily, the Sox relaxed and easily were able to run up the score.  Earl Hamilton was on the mound for St. Louis and he proved to be an easy mark for Sox batters, giving up seven runs and eleven hits.  Everett Scott had three hits to lead Sox batters.  Both Scott and Gardner had a pair of doubles.
