“DIARY OF A WINNER”

WORLD CHAMPS AGAIN

October 1, 1915 ... No game scheduled ... A number of Red Sox players will not be here for the Washington series, now that the pennant has been wrapped up.  Tris Speaker left the team to see an auto race on Long Island, as per an agreement he made with Bill Carrigan last spring, if the Red Sox had clinched the pennant.  Olaf Henriksen suffered a sprained ankle during the practice game at Braves Field, so he remained back in Boston.  Heinie Wagner is at his home in New Rochelle, NY and will meet the team Monday when they play the Yankees.  The megaphone boy here at the Nationals ball park won a $50 wager with Hal Janvrin and Hick Cady that the Red Sox would win the pennant by the next time they returned to Washington.
