BABE RUTH &
BILL CARRIGAN |
October 6, 1915
...
The Red Sox
looked like the champions today for the first time since beating the
Tigers, by beating the Yankees twice in a doubleheader. Out of the
18 innings played New York scored in but one, and there were two outs at
the time, showing that the Sox were doing a good job defensively. In
the first game Carrigan sent out Ernie Shore and Dutch Leonard but refused
to allow the Philly scouts any opportunity to size them up. Shore
pitched great, striking out the first three men. Leonard, Woods and
Mays finished up the game and all pitched effectively, winning out by a
score of 2 to 0.
Babe Ruth pitched the
second game and was there with his usual winning attitude. The final
score was 4 to 2. The Red Sox will close the season tomorrow and
take the evening train for Philadelphia. |
