“DIARY OF A WINNER”

EDDIE STANKY

BOSTON BRAVES ...
SPAHN & SAIN and PRAY FOR RAIN ...

September 7, 1948 ... No game scheduled ... Braves Field was pretty much deserted except for Eddie Stanky, who was out doing his daily exercise rehab routine.  Stanky, under the supervision of trainer Charley Leaks, has made considerable progress, but has not yet pushed himself doing baseball work.  He will accompany the team to Philadelphia tomorrow.

In Pittsburgh, Fritz Ostermueller carried the Pirates into second place as he defeated the Cardinals, 6 to 2.  Ostermueller allowed seven hits and Wally Eastlake homered for the Bucs.  The Pirates and the Dodgers are four games behind the Braves.
