“DIARY OF A WINNER”

BOSTON BRAVES ...
SPAHN & SAIN and PRAY FOR RAIN ...

September 9, 1948 ... The Braves were rained out and had their lead cut to 3 1/2 games buy the Pittsburgh Pirates, who defeated the Cincinnati Reds, 6-1.

The game was called off an hour before the scheduled start time and will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Sunday.  Bill Salkeld is out with flu-like symptoms.  The Braves called up Paul Burris from Milwaukee to be the backup catcher.  Burris is batting .285 for the Brewers.
