October 5, 1948 ... The Indians and Braves worked out at Braves Field with the Braves practicing in the morning and the Indians taking over in the afternoon.

The Boston players had a Chamber of Commerce luncheon at the Hotel Statler.  Nearly 1000 businessmen and their guests filled the main ballroom to congratulate the National League Champions. Baseball Commissioner, "Happy" Chandler, Braves president Lou Perini, manager Billy Southworth and Mayor Curley were the guest speakers.  Each players was introduced individually and had a chance to speak.
